  Adding Spirals to Spacer Bars

This project continues our How to Make Your Own Spacer Bars project.

These instructions describe how to add spirals to the ends of your spacer bar. Please see the first project page for how to make straight spacer bars or the second page for how to make stepped spacer bars.

The only additional tools you will need is:
  1. Chain nose pliers

For more detailed tips and tricks, see our spiral technique tutorial.

Adding Spirals to Spacer Bars

1. Trim excess wire so that you have about 1 1/2" of wire.

2. Using your round nose pliers, make a small P at the very tip of the wire to start the spiral.

3. Place the P in your chain nose pliers, so that the end of the wire is perpendicular to the pliers.

4. Pull the end of the wire up to create the spiral.

5. Release the spiral from the pliers, rotate the spiral so that the end of the wire is again perpendicular to the pliers.

6. Repeat the last two steps until your spiral is complete.

For more further spiral tips and tricks, see our spiral technique tutorial.
